jetlag pains

Hi Reader,

I’ve now traveled to 72 countries, and each one has left a mark on me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. I just got back to Prague after a whirlwind five weeks of travel, and if you love exploring as much as I do, you know what I mean: jetlag can sneak up like an uninvited guest. London to Tokyo, Tokyo to Ottawa, Toronto to San Francisco, and then San Francisco to London before landing back in Prague two days later, last Sunday. That one really shook me.

This trip reminded me to listen to my body. I honored the deep afternoon dip on Monday with a nap, resumed my morning walk in soft, early light this morning, moved my body for a good sweat, and resisted the urge to stay up too late. Giving myself permission to pause is how I keep my fuel up for the adventures I love and the life I want to live.

Now that I’m home, Asia is calling. I’m imagining three months of tasting, wandering, discovering, letting new stories, smiles, and flavors shape me. Travel isn’t just a hobby; it’s a lens through which I see the world and myself. It’s part of my zone of genius.

What about you? Have you been anywhere recently that opened your eyes to something new about yourself or the world? Just hit reply; I'd love to hear your story.

Joyfully,
Damianne

P.S. I share photos from my travels on Tiktok here and will add some more photos this week. Follow to see updates as they come. 😎

Hi Reader, Sometimes things really do feel like luck. When I was in Sri Lanka, I needed to find a taxi driver for a day trip. I did what many of us do now: a quick search using AI, a look at a few Tripadvisor reviews, and I chose someone whose name kept coming up. When he arrived, I expected a simple transaction. A driver taking me from one place to another. But it turned into something more. We spent hours talking as we drove through the countryside. He told me about growing up in Sri Lanka,...

hand on rock at Sandanbeki cliffs

Hi Reader, I felt like sending you a photo from Japan today. I took this photo at Sandanbeki cliffs in Wakayama. What I remember about that moment is how quiet everything felt. The ocean was echoing through the rock, and the air smelled like salt. It’s one of those places where you naturally slow down without trying. I realized afterward that I don’t always give places that kind of time. Even on a solo trip, there’s this subtle pull to keep moving. To make the trip “worth it.” Standing there,...

Damianne in Essaouira

Hi Reader, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about something I didn’t understand when I was younger. When I lived in India, I didn’t know that I was potentially unsafe as a woman. I lived there for two years, and it wasn't until after I left that I heard so many horror stories about the experiences of other women. I had small signals. When I went to the internet café, the browsing history was almost always porn sites. Consistently. And some friends told me that they kept their eyes on the road...
